&#8211; The Christian Institute<\/h2><\/div><p class=\"uagb-ifb-desc\">An author and family campaigner whose father lived as a woman when she was growing up has spoken out to say that all children need a mum and dad.<br><br>Denise Shick said that while society has acknowledged some of the issues around adult transsexualism, it has \u201cnot even begun\u201d to consider the impact on children.<br><br>She commented that cultural celebration of transsexualism \u201cis misguided and insensitive\u201d.<br><br>Best for children<br><br>Shick made the remarks after President Obama expressed his support for transsexual people adopting children, in a presidential proclamation earlier this year.<br><br>In the UK there are no legal barriers to transsexual adoption.<br><br>Writing for the Daily Signal news website, Shick said: \u201cThe proclamation relates Obama\u2019s latest thoughts on what\u2019s best for LBGT adults. I know I speak for others who have undergone similarly tragic childhoods when I say that I pray the Supreme Court will seriously consider the six amicus briefs submitted by the children of LGBT parents.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/wng.org\/articles\/lost-in-the-celebration-1617303767\">Lost in the celebration | WORLD<\/a><br><br>It was a day Denise Shick had been dreaming about for years. She stood at the church foyer in an ivory hand-stitched gown, her mind racing and her heart thumping. When the wedding march began, her father crooked his left arm toward her, and as they took their first step, he leaned in and whispered, \u201cI wish it were me in that gown.\u201d<br><br>Shick almost tripped. While father and daughter walked down the aisle, she was internally screaming with fury and hurt: Why?
