Thinking about a sex change? Don\u2019t do it! That is the advice I wish someone would have given me. I had the sex change. I \u201cpass\u201d fine, my career is good but you cannot imagine the number of times I\u2019ve wished I could go back and see if there was another way. Despite following all the rules and being as honest as I could with the medical folks at each stage, nobody stopped me and said, \u201cAre you honest to God absolutely sure this is the ONLY path for you?\u201d To the contrary, the voices all cheerfully supported my decision by parading their \u2018successful transition\u201d and encouraging others to do the same.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I am now concerned that much of what I took as a gender dysfunction might have been nothing more than a neurotic sexual obsession. I was a cross-dresser for all of my sexual life and had always fantasized about going fem as an ultimate turn-on. Ironically, when I began hormone therapy my libido went away. However, I mistook that relief from sexual obsessions for validation of my gender change.<\/h6><\/div>\n\n\n\n
I only wish that I could have tried more options before jumping in to the one sex fits all category.<\/h6><\/div>\n\n\n\n
