Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, \u201cYou did not make me\u201d? Can the pot say to the potter, \u201cYou know nothing\u201d? Isaiah 29:16 (NIV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-796e7f6f6aaca734c8b7d24b656ce68b\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">Can you imagine how shocked a potter would be if the pitcher she was shaping on her potter\u2019s wheel suddenly shouted, \u201cI don\u2019t want to be a pitcher. I want to be a vase!\u201d That\u2019s impossible, of course. And maybe that\u2019s one reason God used the analogy of a potter and a lump of clay several times in Scripture to emphasize that we humans have no right to challenge his design or purpose for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-785110d2b7b36c7c886bb1d6eea40502\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">One potter-pot analogy is recorded in Isaiah 29. God is angry with his people because \u201cthese people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught\u201d (v. 13). God\u2019s people were so confident of their favored position as the descendants of Abraham that they assumed they could do whatever they wanted, and God would still bless them. God said, \u201c[They] do their work in darkness and think, \u2018Who sees us? Who will know?\u201d (v. 15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-04b3356ee092eeaa1dbd1aa49f6a9eec\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">At that point God reminds them that he is the potter and they are the clay. He is the Creator, and they are the creation. He makes the rules, he decides what is and isn\u2019t acceptable worship, and he decides what is and isn\u2019t sin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-cdee2b07e028f4b7465928a5425966d1\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">What\u2019s the connection between Israel\u2019s idolatry and transgenderism? The idea that human beings make the rules, that we decide what is and isn\u2019t sin, and that we can decide what is truth and what is delusion. Israel insisted on doing what they pleased, on living by \u201cmerely human rules.\u201d And that\u2019s exactly what transgenders do today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2536053e1799e3082a79fe395111b051\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\"><strong>Is Truth a Matter of Choice?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg blog-link has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c1d1c4a03f9225338a79e2f1008d9d05\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">You\u2019ve probably heard people on TV or social media or maybe in your living room say, \u201cThat\u2019s my truth.\u201d According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=My%20Truth\">Urban Dictionary<\/a>, the phrase is a \u201cpretentious substitute for \u2018non-negotiable personal opinion. Often used by academics, this is a convenient phrase for avoiding arguments because people can contradict your opinion but not your \u2018truth.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livingstonesministries.org\/living-stones-blog\/2023\/9\/6\/the-my-truth-delusion#_edn1\">[1]<\/a> Even <a href=\"https:\/\/unabridged.merriam-webster.com\/unabridged\/truth\">Merriam-Webster<\/a> now lists the definition of truth as \u201csomething that is true or held to be true.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livingstonesministries.org\/living-stones-blog\/2023\/9\/6\/the-my-truth-delusion#_edn2\">[2]<\/a> In other words, truth has become so subjective that it not only changes from person to person but changes with whatever a person thinks or feel at a given time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ba6f228eee05832fe03d174403d7bcfc\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">The \u201cmy truth\u201d delusion is symptomatic of a much more serious problem: rebellion against God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a3715623a5c38c7891b286c457138902\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">In Isaiah 45:19, God says, \u201cI, the Lord, speak the truth; I declare what is right.\u201d Human beings did not create truth. God did. Therefore, his judgment of what is true and what is false is the ruler by which truth is measured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-0c2d4dbc4d7f9202bfbc04dcccfb1dad\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\"><strong>Biological Fact vs. Gender Identity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg blog-link has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-06e9b1532012b0bd232fdb59d61c32e8\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">Our culture erroneously applies the \u201cmy truth\u201d delusion to gender. We are told by government officials, educators, medical professionals, media personalities, and perhaps by our family members and friends that gender is simply a social construct\u2014an idea created and accepted by a society. Gender is fluid, they say, based on someone\u2019s <em>gender identity<\/em>, which is \u201ca person\u2019s internal sense of being male, female, some combination of male and female, or neither male nor female,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/unabridged.merriam-webster.com\/unabridged\/gender%20identity\">Merriam-Webster<\/a> tells us.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livingstonesministries.org\/living-stones-blog\/2023\/9\/6\/the-my-truth-delusion#_edn3\">[3]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-451ba3590384bfcebf74fa55b440cd4d\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">This version of the \u201cmy truth\u201d delusion is simply rebellion against God, the one who conceived of and created gender. When he created human beings, he created them \u201cin his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them\u201d (Genesis 1:27). If people deny the biological uniqueness and complementary design of male and female bodies, they strip God of his rights as Creator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-be02ce98e94b247929722e59ec2b8583\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">When human babies born, the first evidence of gender is their external genital organs. An x-ray would confirm that child\u2019s gender by revealing his or her internal reproductive organs. Yes, there are anomalies, but that doesn\u2019t change the fact that the overwhelming majority of human beings are clearly male or female. In fact, in all God\u2019s creation, the principle of male and female exists\u2014in animals and in plants. To deny these observable scientific facts is delusional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2a0704ee935aa364962e0b362075761e\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\"><strong>\u201cMy Truth\u201d vs. The Truth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg blog-link has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9167cdc4b550d745a75d9c950b73271c\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">In 2022, a Japanese man paid a company more than $15,000 to create a dog costume to fulfill his dream of being a dog. Known only by his social media name, Toco, the man posts regular videos on YouTube chronicling his antics in the costume. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insider.com\/japanese-man-spends-15000-on-lifelike-dog-costume-2022-5\">He claims<\/a>, \u201cI wanted to be an animal, so I became a collie.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livingstonesministries.org\/living-stones-blog\/2023\/9\/6\/the-my-truth-delusion#_edn4\">[4]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ba8172d5f44a0af5b333c0ef5550c1c6\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">But he is not a dog. He is a man masquerading as a dog. In fact, when real dogs got close to him, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insider.com\/japanese-man-spends-15000-on-lifelike-dog-costume-2022-5\">they scurried away<\/a>.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livingstonesministries.org\/living-stones-blog\/2023\/9\/6\/the-my-truth-delusion#_edn5\">[5]<\/a> His human scent betrayed him as a fraud. Likewise, those who identify themselves as transgenders can dress themselves in the opposite sex\u2019s physical features, but they cannot change their biological identity as a male or female. Their DNA betrays them. The same is true for those who identify as nonbinary, genderfluid, pangender, or any one of the other gender identities so-called experts claim to exist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ffbfbddd52dd7cf5c0761b270c2155ef\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">\u201cMy truth\u201d is just another name for \u201cmy delusion.\u201d The one who loves delusion most is the Father of Lies, Satan himself. In John 8:44, Jesus told the Pharisees, \u201cYou belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father\u2019s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.\u201d Satan is also the father of delusion, and imprisoning people in their delusions is one of his favorite pastimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9a597280c750a3e97aa03a75cc3b5caf\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\"><strong>Respond with Truth and Love<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-76b34e99c12eab496ca22ed09d463524\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">Those who cling to the \u201cmy truth\u201d delusion are playing by Satan\u2019s rulebook. The best way to respond to a lie is to speak the truth. If a friend or loved one is using the \u201cmy truth\u201d tactic on you, resist it. Speak gently and calmly, but firmly. Try something along these lines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-850f1189ec7e53f6c2e0a18c11bec67b\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; God created you and he loves you. He shaped your female (or male) body in the womb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-cfd929af209461349b8b9ace0b7ecdbb\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I understand you feel this way, but feelings change. Biological facts do not change. And God\u2019s design for human gender does not change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7bc2ef031cbcacad9dac032fe9c9ec05\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I\u2019m sorry you don\u2019t understand why I can\u2019t call you by [name] or use your preferred pronouns, but I cannot say what does not reflect my heart or honor the person God created you to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-941e5446b408a74ca793956743ed6bef\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">Allowing people to live under the delusion that they can be their own creator is not loving. Telling them the truth and encouraging them to live according to truth is the loving response. If someone you care about is pressuring you to embrace their delusion, take the situation to God in prayer. Ask your Creator to show you how to speak truth and live in truth. Ask him to reveal his divine purpose and design to those who struggle with gender identity.
