The 22-year veteran middle school teacher\u2014I\u2019ll call him<br>Tom\u2014wanted prayer support. \u201cI am being forced to teach a controversial curriculum \u2026 that<br>both violates my conscience and is opposed to my religious beliefs. \u2026 I must teach about sexual<br>orientation, gender identity and expression, and abortion (to name a few) and equip kids with<br>resources and clinic information to enable them to make these kinds of life-changing decisions<br>\u2018confidentially\u2019 (without parental permission or knowledge).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg blog-link has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-fb3089fe7111d5d65d53a90ecf7ddcdd\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">Christian public and private school teachers across this nation are facing similar situations.<br>Many believe God has called them to be salt and light in an educational system that has veered<br>more toward indoctrination of extreme leftist ideology than instruction in the core subjects of<br>math, science, and history. Like Tom, these dedicated men and women are trying to live out the<br>principle Jesus established in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%2017.15\">John 17:15<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m not asking you [Father] to take them out of the<br>world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.\u201d They also know that they \u201care not fighting<br>against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world,<br>against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places\u201d<br>(<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Eph%206.12\">Ephesians 6:12<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"adobe-reg has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7436b70b9fdb68c3686e564b5527ca31\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\"><strong>The Enemy is Satan. His prey? Our children.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg blog-link has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-913c56ba22dc8de03ee468e6a67d5ca9\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">We need to build a wall of protective prayer around these godly teachers who are on the front<br>lines of this battle. Here are five specific ways you can pray for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading proxima-font has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-090f702138db98733cbf87874c44dbd1\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a;font-size:22px;letter-spacing:2px;text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>HOLY SPIRIT\u2019S PRESENCE IN THE CLASSROOM<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg blog-link has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-bd437dcc56aed566c47b47998dcd6212\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">Satan is alive and well in classrooms across America. Through extremist curriculum that<br>encourages children to question their birth gender, undermines parental authority, and exalts<br>same-sex relationships and transgenderism, the Enemy seeks to \u201csteal and kill and destroy\u201d<br>(<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%2010.10\">John 10:10<\/a>). But he is no match for the Holy Spirit.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/nlt\/1%20John%204.4\">First John 4:4 NLT<\/a>&nbsp;says, \u201cThe Spirit who lives in<br>you is greater than the spirit who lives in this world.\u201d So pray that the Holy Spirit will hover over<br>every child in every classroom to protect them from harmful ideology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading proxima-font has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8aaec26e609bb0aa37a39a888228ee79\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a;font-size:22px;letter-spacing:2px;text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>HOLY SPIRIT\u2019S PROTECTION FOR EVERY TEACHER<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg blog-link has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1b048a997139bb55a9aae6b31f04237a\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">Tom admitted in his email that \u201calthough I have been fasting and praying and seeking the Lord<br>with all my strength, I have been sick to my stomach, losing sleep, and on the verge of a panic attack\u201d as the time to teach the 10-day curriculum to his students drew near. But he also said, \u201cGod made it clear that I should be the one teaching my [seventh-grade students] this material rather than some LGBTQ+ activist.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg blog-link has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-08807baf7ee0031767f448ffe63ae8af\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">God has always called some of his servants to speak the truth in hostile environments. The<br>prophets were ridiculed, beaten, and imprisoned. So were the apostles. The psalmist wrote,<br>\u201cThose who wish me harm make plans to ruin me. All day long they plan their treachery\u201d (Psalm<br>38:12). Jesus said, \u201cIf the world hates you, remember that it hated me first\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/John%2015.18\">John 15:18<\/a>). Ask<br>God to protect godly teachers from the Enemy\u2019s attacks as they speak truth. Ask him to send his<br>angels to protect them against false accusations and unjust employment termination. On their<br>behalf, claim the promise of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Isaiah+54&amp;version=NLT\">Isaiah 54:17<\/a>: \u201cNo weapon turned against you will succeed. You will<br>silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the<br>Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading proxima-font has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-34fb77c8ab571cb921439374483b4a46\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a;font-size:22px;letter-spacing:2px;text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>HOLY SPIRIT\u2019S WISDOM IN EVERY TEACHER<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg blog-link has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2eae286211b6b611ded512cbf909a650\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">When Jesus spoke of the end times, he told his disciples, \u201cSo don\u2019t worry in advance about how<br>to answer the charges against you, for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that<br>none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Luke%2021.14%E2%80%9315\">Luke 21:14\u201315<\/a>). Only the Holy<br>Spirit can enable us to \u201cbe as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Matt%2010.16\">Matthew 10:16<\/a>). Ask<br>God to give teachers the wisdom to speak truth in a way that will penetrate students\u2019 minds but<br>not confuse them or harden their hearts against God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading proxima-font has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-74df7b83a311a39fe18653b7188848f0\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a;font-size:22px;letter-spacing:2px;text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>HOLY SPIRIT\u2019S COMPASSION IN EVERY TEACHER<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg blog-link has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9ef59b80f92e72ce03117cd4145e189c\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">Tom has built a trusting, loving relationship with his students. They \u201cknow that I love the Lord,<br>and they know that I love them.\u201d It is almost impossible to speak truth to someone if you<br>haven\u2019t established a firm foundation of trust, love, and respect. Ask God to fill each teacher\u2019s<br>heart with his steadfast, unconditional love. Ask God to give each teacher a discerning heart<br>that listens to a student\u2019s spoken and unspoken needs and concerns. Ask God to help them<br>balance understanding with boundaries, \u201cto warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage<br>the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/niv\/1%20Thess%205.14\">1 Thessalonians 5:14 NIV<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading proxima-font has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-28cad1af63f9b1d500e9c3f09ea4b115\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a;font-size:22px;letter-spacing:2px;text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>HOLY SPIRIT\u2019S POWER OVER EVERY DECEPTION<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg blog-link has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c2ffa6a189653346662f78c8e44c2140\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">Satan\u2019s goal is to take every truth and twist it into an alluring deception. Paul alerted the<br>Corinthians to this tactic when he wrote, \u201cEven Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it<br>is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness\u201d (2<br>Corinthians 11:14\u201315). Extremists use terms such as \u201cgender-affirming health care\u201d and<br>\u201creproductive rights\u201d to mask the procedures and programs they tout as beneficial. But as Tom<br>says, God needs to \u201ctake what the Enemy meant for evil and turn it upside down, exposing lies<br>and deception while revealing truth that sets people free.\u201d Ask God to expose every lie that is<br>presented in a classroom and to prevent Satan from gaining even a toehold in any student\u2019s<br>heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading proxima-font has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2072bd5e2abdd692457c012523099870\" style=\"color:#4a4a4a;font-size:22px;letter-spacing:2px;text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>PRAYER: OUR MOST EFFECTIVE WEAPON<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"adobe-reg blog-link has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-fb99b4fefec6f2f91ae719bd42077f0a\" style=\"color:#1a1a1ab3;font-size:18px;letter-spacing:0px\">Jesus gave us 24\/7 access to God\u2019s throne when he paid the price for our sins on the cross and<br>rose in victory from the grave. In My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers wrote, \u201cPrayer<br>does not fit us for the greater works; prayer is the greater work.\u201d\u00b9 Yes, we need to be aware of<br>the curriculum used in our school district. Yes, we need to vote for school board members who<br>share our values. Yes, we need to voice our opinion at school board meetings, and read every<br>document sent home by our child\u2019s school. But most of all, we need to pray. Pray that God will<br>protect our children from lies and also defend teachers who want to uphold truth in an<br>increasingly hostile and destructive educational environment. \u201cThe earnest prayer of a<br>righteous person [still] has great power and produces wonderful results\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/James%205.16\">James 5:16<\/a>).
