– Ken Hakuta—a multimillionaire better known as host of the Dr. Fad TV show—famously said, “Contrary to what most people believe, fads are made, not born.” On the more cerebral side, Nobel prize-winning scientist Eric Betzig pronounced, “Science goes through fads, and there are big ups and crashes.”
Add those two statements together and you have the explanation for the recent explosion of people declaring themselves transgender. It’s a fad, made by progressive elites, embraced by progressive commoners, and given unwarranted credence by progressive scientists eager for recognition as cutting-edge progressive visionaries.

March 1, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel is commonly credited with defining the philosophical structure called dialectic. While I make no claim to be a serious student of Hegel or of philosophy in general, I think I understand the basics of dialectic reasoning enough to refer to its effect on our culture.
In simple terms, the system suggests that cultures evolve through a pattern like this: Thesis (a new idea) –> antithesis (opposition to new idea) –> synthesis (compromise). (No doubt some will call this an oversimplification of the process. But I believe it accurately depicts cultural evolution.)

Whoever coined the phrase about sticks and stones breaking bones but words being harmless must have lived an isolated life. I’ve endured some painful physical events, not the least of which was giving birth. But some of the verbal attacks leveled against me have left emotional scars that still sting more than any physical scab.
Words matter; words are powerful. Words can harm or heal. Who hasn’t been the victim of verbal assaults such as gossip or of outright invective? But one can also fall prey to a subtler form of verbal abuse: inappropriate suggestion.

In on-line forums, parents have been reporting that their children are experiencing what is described here as “rapid-onset gender dysphoria,” appearing for the first time during puberty or even after its completion. The onset of gender dysphoria seemed to occur in the context of belonging to a peer group where one, multiple, or even all of the friends have become gender dysphoric and transgender-identified during the same timeframe. Parents also report that their children exhibited an increase in social media/internet use prior to disclosure of a transgender identity. The purpose of this study was to document and explore these observations and describe the resulting presentation of gender dysphoria, which is inconsistent with existing research literature.

But in the nation’s most progressive state, you only need to be 12 years old to privately seek and consent to treatment for gender transitioning.
The recently enacted California law was written to “provide that the rights of minors and non-minors in foster care, as described above, include the right to be involved in the development of case plan elements related to placement and gender affirming health care, with consideration of their gender identity.”

Drawing primarily from a friend’s experiences and from Mark Yarhouse’s book Understanding Gender Dysphoria, Bradley’s message can be summarized as follows: “Christians need to show compassion to those who suffer with the difficult symptoms of gender dysphoria.” Bradley will get no argument from me or from most Christians I know.
