Childhood hurts are not forgotten
How important is the influence of each parent to the overall health of a developing child?
Molly, a former female to male transgender, wrote, “I really believed that somehow my parents divorce was my fault, that if I had been the son my father wanted, he would not have left. I knew at a very young age that the only name chosen prior to my birth had been a boy’s name.”
John White in his book Eros Redeemed states that tour gender identity has to do with our sense or perception of our being manly or womanly, masculine or feminine. The inference is that gender identity has nothing to do with biology or what is physically true, but rather what we think about ourselves as men and women and how well we feel we fit that definition of what the really masculine male or really feminine woman should be.
The seeds of gender identity confusion took root long ago, and what you see now is the fruit of the confusion. Our perception of who we really are is already warped. Satan is the master of deception, and he is invested in keeping us confused and deluded as to who we are and what we really mean to God.
Our culture also promotes distortion and confusion. That confusion can drive us to live a life of unbelief that eventually propels us toward bondage in sexual sin, acting on our desires, and driving us far away from God and His destiny for us.
May God be with each of us struggling to find and accept who we really are.
